From basic info on club swings all the way to advanced tips on using Golden Tees, here you'll find advice on how to get the most out of every tool at your disposal.
To hit your golf ball, swipe downward to pull back your club. The further you swipe, the more power you'll get. Then, swipe your finger upwards to launch the ball.
TIP: When the club is pulled back, tap anywhere on the screen to reset if you wish to start over.
To adjust your aim, place two fingers on the screen and gently swipe left or right to rotate your golfer.
TIP: Double-tap on the screen to re-center your golfer's aim.
The Shot Indicator on the bottom left provides a layout of the hole and a reference for club distance. Additionally, you'll find useful information about the green's slope prior to putting.
TIP: The map layout should only be used as a guide. You should use both the Shot Indicator and what you see on the main screen to appropriately gauge the layout of the hole. The map doesn't always show elevation, so judging hills and bunkers can be tricky.
The Shot Indicator on the bottom left changes to a cutaway view of the green and shows the slope of every putt. Use this to determine how a shot may break and which direction you want to putt.
TIP 1: When putting, the wind's impact is much less than when the ball is in the air.
TIP 2: You cannot curve putts the way you can when using normal clubs.
The Shot Guide displays different types of curve shots available to you. This is a general guide on how the ball will travel.
TIP: Variations of these shots will produce unique results. Learning which shots work for you in each situation is the difference between a rookie and a pro.
The Shot Feedback display will show you the power of your shot closely followed by the direction of your swing gestures.
TIP 1: Use the Shot Feedback and Shot Guide in tandem when learning how to curve shots. Before you know it, curving shots will become second nature to you.
TIP 2: Any terrain other than the fairway and tee box will hamper the curve effect of your shots. Keep this in mind if you're looking for shortcuts or alternate angles of approach to the green.
The Wind Indicator displays the direction and strength of the wind, which greatly impact the ball's flight.
TIP 1: Use Javelin balls to drastically cut the wind's effect on your drive. Note that the wind speed is displayed in blue when the Javelin is used.
TIP 2: Higher altitudes will increase the wind's effect on your ball. Use low loft clubs to greatly reduce the overall impact of the wind.
Toggle between the different clubs you own by tapping the current club and then swiping up or down. The maximum distance is displayed on the club. Note that the distance is not an exact guide to where the ball will land. All aspects of the game are taken into account: slope, terrain, wind conditions, club loft, ball type and swing power.
TIP 1: Don't forget to upgrade your clubs as soon as you unlock them.
TIP 2: Fill in your bag with premium clubs.
Select Premium Balls by tapping on the Current Ball panel.
TIP: You may purchase more balls at any time during the game if you forget to stock up before play.
Tees are an essential element of Golden Tee Golf. They provide additional boost to your drives by adding distance and loft. Golden Tees also offer enhanced control.
When you select the Golden Tee you are able to place it within a few yards' radius, allowing you to fine tune your starting position.
Once your position is confirmed, you will have 3 Tee height choices.
TIP: It's not unheard of to add 30 to 70 yards to your drives when you use a Maniax ball and a High Golden Tee.
TIP: Use Premium Balls such as the Torpedo and Streak to maximize the potential of Medium Tees.
TIP: For even less loft, you can combine this tee with the 1-Iron. It's our lowest-loft club with long distance!
Stuck in the sand? Dropped the ball in the ocean? No problem! Mulligans allow you to retry the previous shot with no penalty.
TIP: In the interest of integrity, Mulligans are not allowed in Contest games against other players.
The FLY-BY camera will show you the shortest "fairway" path towards the cup.
TIP: The FLY-BY camera is there for reference only. There are many hidden shortcuts around the courses that you should explore for optimal scores.
The BIRDS-EYE View camera is the ideal tool for identifying obstacles, dealing with elevation, seeing the shapes of the green or fairway and planning the perfect shot.
TIP: Place two fingers on the screen and move up or down (and left and right) to look around.
The HEADS-UP camera is great for identifying how high obstacles stand in front of you. It would be a shame if your perfect shot execution was ruined by low-hanging tree branches just out of view.
The SAVE LAST SHOT allows you to store a replay of your last shot in the GT BOX. You can find your replay on the main menu by tapping the bullhorn in the upper left corner and checking the For You section.
Tap on the Quick Shot button when the ball is in flight to speed up your game. You may tap it again to return to normal speed.
TIP: Toggle the Quick Shot feature in the Options menu to lock in your preference for as long as you like.
For the cost of just a few gold bars, you can upgrade your clubs beyond your current level for a limited time. Or, go crazy on the fairway with boosted clubs and unlimited powerups! Some modes will offer this opportunity before you start your round. But you can also tap the blue panel on the right side of the screen at any point during the game to get yourself loaded up!
TIP: In Campaign and Challenge modes the boost lasts for a specified amount of time, so squeeze in as many games as you can!
TIP: A boost in the Contest game mode lasts only for the duration of that contest.
Running a little short on coinage to snag a critical upgrade or some clothing you want? Take advantage of this option to boost the amount of silver coins you earn after games for a limited time. This will take effect whenever you complete a Challenge, Campaign, or Daily 9 hole. Tap the blue panel on the right side of the screen at any time to get this boost activated!
TIP: Boost must be active at game completion to receive bonuses.
TIP: This boost does not offer bonus coin winnings from Contest game modes.
At some point, we're all jonesing for the next big club upgrade or a higher contest league. This boost is the answer. For a limited time, you can boost the amount of XP earned from ALL game modes. Use your time remaining wisely to reap the benefits from this lucrative boost! Tap the blue panel on the right side of the screen during a game to take advantage of this feature.
TIP: Boost must be active at game completion to receive bonuses.
Silver Coins are the main currency used in the game. This currency is easily earned through all game modes and can be spent on some Premium Balls and Tees, entering Contests and acquiring most of the apparel for your golfer.
While each game mode earns you Silver Coins, there are a few fun notes to acknowledge:
As you level up, you will enter higher Leagues which award bonus Silver Coins on the Daily 9 holes. You'll also get to play for higher stakes in Contests!
The "9 Hole Challenge" in Campaign yields bonus Silver Coins at the end (since the risk is higher, the reward is noticeably greater).
The "Back 9" courses in Campaign also yield an additional bonus based on your performance, as those holes tend to be more challenging.
There are 4 difficulty levels in Campaign mode: NOVICE, ADVANCED, EXPERT and PRO. As each difficulty level increases, so do the reward payouts.
Gold Bars are a special currency found in the game. They're used to purchase most of the Premium Balls, Tees, Mulligans, and special apparel. Gold Bars can only be earned from Achievements and some Contests.
As you play, you will earn Golden Tee Points, which will fill your player's progress bar and raise your level. As you level up, you're going to unlock new Clubs to upgrade, League Contests to enter, free power ups and more!
Golden Tee Points comprise one of the main scoring systems used in the Golden Tee Golf cabinet version. Here, the same formula holds true: the better you play, the quicker you earn GTP. For instance, a single Hole-in-One may be worth almost as much as a full 9 Hole game!
TIP: Daily 9's chests award bonus points towards your level; be sure to open as many of them as you can daily.
Players are placed in Leagues with others according to their player level. This is so that anyone who enters a Contest will not be severely outmatched with little chance of winning. As players advance in the Leagues, the Contest prize pools increase, making it an optimal place to earn Silver Coins and the only place to win Gold Bars.
With each new player level, a new club is unlocked. It is imperative to keep the clubs upgraded as high as you can. Those few extra yards may determine the outcome of a Contest!
TIP: You have the option to upgrade your clubs early at a premium. This not only waives the silver cost of the upgrade, but also allows you to use them at a lower level.
As your player level increases, you will receive a variety of free items: Premium Balls, Tees, Mulligans and more!
Golden Tee glory is waiting for you to claim it! The Global Leaderboards allow you to compare yourself against other players around the world in a variety of diverse categories! Whether it's the longest drive, the most Great Shot points, or just an overall World Ranking, the Leaderboards will show how you've performed amongst other Golden Tee golfers. Tap any player to view their statistics and avatar to see how you measure up. No matter how well you've played, there's always a better rival around the corner to give you a new goal to strive for!
You'll reach new Leagues as you continue to level up. As you progress, you'll be matched up against players with a similar level of experience. As you advance in the Leagues, the prizes in Contests will increase! You can view your rankings amongst your own League or the world at large on the Leaderboards.
